Acid House Legends

A little late but in the Acid House Legends spotlight a very special record from Rodney Bakerr and comes with a very nice story explained on Discogs where I found it. And here it is:

The story behind the unearthing of these tracks and release of this record ....

In 2011, after my mother was diagnosed with cancer, I returned to Scotland to look after her and Ebayed a load of my records to support myself. One of those was a white label simply marked RHO19 which I had been sent by Ray Barney or Walter Paas in the early '90s when I used to regularly wire over $100 in exchange for a parcel of their latest Chicago white labels. Upon listing it for auction I was contacted by Rodney Bakerr himself, who, upon my sending him sound files, confirmed it was indeed the 'lost' Rockin' House recordings. Here's my original listing blurb...

ROCKIN' HOUSE 019 - ?MYSTERY ARTIST?
(PLAY OUT GROOVE READS RHO 19 WITH NO FURTHER INFO)
4 HARD PUMPIN' CHICAGO ACID TRAX IN A RODNEY BAKERR STYLE
AN ABSOLUTELY PHENOMENAL & RARE AS GOLDFISH TEETH RECORD! WAS SENT TO ME DIRECT BY THE LABEL BACK IN THE LATE 80s WHEN I WAS DJing REGULARLY AND USED TO SEND MONEY OVER TO WALTER PAAS, IMPORTS INC, GRAMAPHONE & TO MY FAVOURITE CHICAGO LABELS TO SEND ME OVER A STACK OF THEIR HOTTEST, LATEST RELEASES. THIS CAME WITH A BATCH OF OTHER ROCKIN' HOUSE RELEASES BUT I'VE NEVER KNOWN WHO IT WAS BY AND HAVE JUST BEEN TOLD BY A FELLOW CHICAGO HOUSE OBSESSIVE THAT IT CAN ONLY BE ONE OF THE 20 OR 30 PROMO/TEST PRESSING COPIES OF THE RARE & ELUSIVE RHO 19 THAT NEVER RECEIVED OFFICIAL RELEASE. IF ANYONE ELSE KNOWS ANYTHING ABOUT THIS ENIGMATIC RELEASE PLEASE LET ME KNOW!! THREE OF THE TRAX ARE HARD, PUMPING, 303 FUELLED ACID GROOVES IN AN OFF THE-WALL STYLE VERY SIMILAR TO RODNEY BAKERR's OTHER RELEASES ON THE LABEL & THE LAST TRACK IS A HARD-HITTING 808 PERCUSSION WORK-OUT. MSG ME FOR THE AUDIO CLIPS AND YOU'LL HEAR ALL THE TRAX FOR YOURSELF!

+ message I subsequently received from Rodney Bakerr himself below....

The story of RH019 is simple but strange RH019 was an experimental recording to see how far i could push Acid House. At the time i was going through tough times with bootleggers and distribution rip off's and the record just kind of fell to the wayside, and never was released, only the original test pressings exist. Some of the experimental tracks from those recordings influnced Bakerr Tracks (which was released on vinyl). The tracks on "Future Past" were also influcened by experiments from RH019 and Time and Space. As to why I left a void in the numbering system for Rockin House, I don't know, maybe i felt i would eventually release RH019. It's a great record. R.Bakerr
